This gelding is owned by John Griffin from Askeaton, Shane’s cousin on his mother’s side. John and Shane are partners in three broodmares, the dam of Cos I Can being one of them, and this is the first horse that they have bred together.
Cos I Can arrived at Hickstead last March having been broken in Cashel before Shane moved to England. He was clear in the four year old in Millstreet but was a bit overawed by the crowd and didn’t make it to the final, much to the disappointment of Shane who had held out great hopes of him winning. “I have had several by Olympic Lux (with the right mare they are very careful and have good temperaments) and am impressed by this horse who I think has the potential to make it all the way to the top. We’ll start him off this year in Newcomers and aim him for the Dublin qualifiers.”
